The Bowl is an establishment grounded in co-dependency. While officially spares and strikes are the main draw, we cannot imagine any part of that experience separate from its mandatory predecessor: beering.
A new rule can feel inspired when born of honest intent. In this case, beer in the left hand, bowling with the right. When (not if) forgotten, the condemned retrieves the next pitcher as the judges prepare a ceremonious gutter ball.
No big deal, really.
And somehow, once we get going, our love of bowling grows, and then another game. And another. And another.
