GORUCK Light, Washington DC: “Take Me Out To The Ballgame”
If you’re not having fun in life, you’re doing something wrong. If you’re in charge of people and they’re not having fun, you’re doing something wrong. You can’t bark all the time and expect them to do what you say just because you say it. If you do, you’ll fail as a leader – even in the military if you want people to follow you anywhere, they have to believe in you and want to be with you when things get bad. Everything comes down to how you treat people, regardless of your rank.

Light = Fun and people always ask why the singing? First off, there are two grades at GORUCK, A and F, A- rounds down, and the classes hear this before the singing. If they get less than an A, which they always do at the beginning since everyone is too shy to really sing, it’s back to I smile and you do more push-ups or whatever, then try it again. Rinse and repeat and get an A this time or else it’s back to I smile and you do push-ups, again. Once everyone overcomes their fear of looking stupid and instead just focuses on working together, the real entertainment starts for the entire town. And yeah yeah the whole singing thing would be ridiculous except it’s fun and most importantly, it works.

Why GORUCK focuses on the lessons you learn in GORUCK Events, which are based on our Cadre’s experiences serving in Special Operations, both in training and in war.
