While stationed in Misawa Japan, Taylon became an instructor for a group that was training for careers in Special Operations. It was at that time that the founding member of the group Willie Bivins III introduced him to GORUCK. He participated in the Bataan Memorial Death March in White Sands Missile Range New Mexico for many years and always noticed the GRTs but never really looked into it further. Once he returned to the states, he started really looking at GORUCK and the events they offered and got hooked. He has been rucking since he enlisted in the Army back in 1999, but GORUCK events put an entirely new spin on the misery and discomfort of rucking for him.
The Mule Barn Ruckers was started by a group of Veterans that missed rucking with their friends in Japan and decided to continue their group in Los Lunas, New Mexico. There is just something about the camaraderie that comes from rucking and especially being around other vets.
New Mexico offers the most diverse and beautiful terrain in the country. It is the only state in the country where all five life zones exist, which makes for some amazing rucks and adventures.
With the help of some local vets, they began to spread the word and schedule local workout sessions. Five years later they now have partnered with local Crossfit gyms and local Team RWB chapter and their membership has doubled. They love being a part of the GORUCK community and look forward to many more adventures. Please feel free to drop in or contact them anytime you are in the area!
We feature a GRT and GORUCK Club every week. Find a GORUCK Club near you here. Not one in your area? Start your own!
