To Vinnie’s with the dogs, we took the long way along the boardwalk and through one of the South's most charming spots. Vinnie's is the best kind of place, with $3 walking beers, awesome pizza and a chaotic atmosphere, that everyone adores, with good reason. We sat on the curb outside and managed to save only one piece for breakfast.

Charleston suburbs, South Carolina

Out into the suburbs to stay with family. After catching up for a long while, we kayaked to an old plantation, docked at a magnolia field, in knee-high mud, and then just wandered around. Jo Ann gave us a small tour and then we had the best pecan pie in south carolina, and therefore (we assume) the world.

Richmond, Virginia

Visited World of Mirth. Maybe the coolest toy store on the planet, located on Cary Street. Tons for the kids in us to look around for hours. Dogs in tow, we lucked into dog night to watch the Flying Squirrels play. After cold beer, friendly fans, and the best food (ie ballpark food), we still wanted Sticky Rice’s famous bucket of tots, with beers of course.

Great Falls, Maryland

Java’s return to Great Falls – the last time we were here, we were on the (frozen) lake and java was just a puppy. The falls are a couple miles along the tow path from the parking lot, in the MD suburbs of DC. As expected, Java was all over the place, plunging off the path into the bushes or the water, with Ashe not far behind.
