The reverse flag dates back to the Army’s early history when both cavalry and infantry units would charge ahead as the Stars and Stripes streamed back. When moving forward, therefore, the star field is always to the front as the red and white stripes flow to the back in the breeze. Today, the reverse flag is worn on the right sleeve of military uniforms and symbolizes the courage and respect of those who serve. Our abstract of the US flag is meant to highlight our pride as a company at having all of our gear built in the USA, by American workers, with American craftsmanship.

Another great explanation, thanks!
I know you are honoring that tradition, and thank you, but I like the flag in it’s normal orientation on a backpack, so thank you for selling the great looking American flag patch that way as well. I know the flag should be reversed on the R sleeve of a military uniform… also on the side of a vehicle or plane if I’m not mistaken. There’s nothing wrong with the real deal though – especially this day and age! Thanks for your service to our country!
Agreed! Options are great!
