We rolled into our campsite very late, the joys of no cell phone service much appreciated to help us unwind. Relaxing by the campfire, we ate sausages and drank a few beers before some much needed sleep under the open skies. In the morning we drove all around the park, each vantage point enriching the grandeur of the last. Conclusion: it must be seen with your own two eyes to fully appreciate.
Leaving Vegas we were thrilled to get to pass by the Hoover Dam, chat with a lot of people doing the same thing, and watch the sun set behind us as we sped off to the Grand Canyon.
Classic Tucson sunset to end a day spent at the Colossal Cave Park, where Van told us he loved his job as a tour guide and was happy to talk about anything west of the Mississippi. Riding around town you can always feel the heat of the Arizona sun.
