“Jason McCarthy, a Special Forces soldier, had no idea that he would be a businessman running a multi-million dollar operation. McCarthy served in the Army between 2003-2008. And he became a Green Beret (Army Special Forces) in that period. McCarthy served in Iraq, West Africa, and Europe. And he also received a Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medal with “V” Device (“V” is for Valor). Prior to joining the Army, McCarthy attended Emory University as a 2x Academic All-American and he received an MBA from Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business (full tuition covered under the Connelly Scholar program). In an interview, McCarthy said that he came up with the idea for Jacksonville Beach, Florida-based GORUCK in a “moment of insanity.”
